Save the Date, the 12th Annual Veterans Day Parade is scheduled for November 5, 2017. Join us as we continue the tradition of honoring America's veterans for their loyal and dedicated service.

The tradition began on November 11, 1947. Raymond Weeks, dubbed the “Father of Veterans Day,” exemplified selfless service to his country through volunteerism.  In 1945, upon returning from WWII to his home in Birmingham, Alabama, he envisioned a national holiday honoring veterans of all wars.  In 1946, his passionate pursuit led him to personally deliver his petition for “National Veterans Day 1947” to then Army Chief of Staff, General Dwight Eisenhower, who fully supported Weeks’ mission.

Shortly thereafter, Congressman Edward H. Rees (Kansas) introduced legislation to change Armistice Day to Veterans Day in order to honor all veterans who have served America.

In 2006 the communities of Northeast Los Angeles came together to honor those who have served and continue to do so. With your continued support and participation the tradition lives on.

Honoring Those Who Served

"On the battlefield, the military pledges to leave no soldier behind. As a nation, let it be our pledge that when they return home, we leave no veteran behind."
